And we’re receiving reports out of China’s Hebei Province about a young Falun Gong practitioner named Ge Hefei. A court in Feixiang city secretly sentenced her to three years in prison. The court did not notify her family of the trial, or allow her attorney to defend her. Members of Ge Hefei’s family say they had no idea their daughter was being put on prescription medications trial, and it was even harder to find out the verdict of the case once they eventually got word of it. “When we went to get the verdict, they said that it would take two to three days. They sarcastically told us to go appeal.” Several phone calls to judge Liu Yanfeng went unanswered. Ge Hefei’s family says the court twisted Chinese law to prosecute Ge. “She is a very good girl. She did not commit any crime. They just secretly sentenced the child. China’s laws (Feixiang court) make me feel sad. It is a breach of our democratic rights. We are also very angry. Our families want to sue the court.” The court prevented Ge’s defense attorney from submitting documents in her defense as well. Ge Hefei and her family are filing lawsuits against Feixiang court, the National People’s Congress, and other related agencies.
